About Me

My name is Stephanie.  I'm a 30-something-year-old girl who has a serious passion for all things that have to do with the kitchen...I love to cook, especially to bake.  I'm into cakes and cookies and all things SWEET!  I have had aspirations of starting my own business...but I haven't quite gotten to that point in my "dream".  I enjoy baking as a hobby for now.  To create a business out of it is extremely hard work and I have so much respect for those women out there that have taken the plunge, so to speak, and started their own baking businesses.

When I was younger, still searching for myself, I worked for a catering company and a small restaurant.  I also worked in a fabulous kitchen supply store.  At the time I had no idea how much I would be influenced by my first part-time employment choices.

My love of food led me to the field of Nutrition.  I obtained a bachelor's degree in Dietetics and a master's in Nutrition and Food Service Management.  I am a Registered Dietitian and have worked in the food industry for the past 15 years or so.  I've learned a lot about quantity food production, food labeling and regulation, quality assurance, sensory evaluation, product development and research, and ingredient procurement.  Eventually I got into the marketing side of things, direct marketing, website content management and merchandising.  Recently, I left the food world to work for a very FUN company that sells non-food products!  It is quite a change, but I continue to expand my knowledge base in e-commerce, which is a field that I find very interesting and challenging.

The kitchen is not all about food.  The early years of working in the kitchen supply store created an obsession with kitchen/cooking gadgets of all kinds.  Bakeware, cookware, glassware, dishes, dishes, dishes, cookbooks, cookbooks and more cookbooks!  This obsession has been paired with a fascination of everything vintage from the 1920s to the 1970s.  I have an extensive collection of vintage kitchenware including Pyrex, Mirro, Lustroware, Tupperware and so much more.  I like the pinks, yellows, robin's egg blue and lime pieces especially.  Someday I'll have to post pictures of some of my favorite pieces.  My blog post "Kim's Baby Shower" has a few of these items pictured in the background or as serving dishes.  I also really dig mid-century modern stuff, Danish modern, simplistic, clean lined, Eames era.

Other hobbies (see, this is what happens when you are single for so long!) are scrapbooking, card making and jewelry making.  In fact, I have started a sister blog to this one that is dedicated to scrapbooking and card making (and other crafting).  Please check out Scrappin' Jubilee.

There is much that makes up "me".

To be continued...
